RAMALLAH, February 20, 2011 (WAFA) – Bassam Salhi, Secretary General of the People’s Party said on Sunday that USA lost its credibility as a peace broker by Using the veto against the resolution condemning settlements in the occupied Territory.
Salhi pointed out in a press conference in Ramallah that the USA veto turned America into an ally of Israel, adding that the peace process should be dealt with only within UN parameters.
He praised President Mahmoud Abbas for his solid stance to move forward in the anti-settlements resolution in spite of the US veto.
Israeli proposals to keep settlements within land exchange are completely unacceptable, he added.
Salhi proposed to direct efforts to end division among Palestinian parties to reach state establishment by September.
He called for establishing a government of national unity that includes all the Palestinian parties in order to be ready to face all risks that threaten the Palestinian cause and its future.
