Al-Mezan Demands International Protection for Palestinians

GAZA, February 17, 2011 (WAFA) - Al-Mezan Center for Human Rights Thursday demanded from the international community to better protect the Palestinians, especially in Gaza.

The center also demanded from the international community to put an end to what it described as Israel’s crimes, including killing civilians to destroy their livelihoods, and establishing isolated “security zones” that violate international law.

Al Mezan statement came in response to the killing of three Palestinian fishermen earlier Thursday by Israeli gunfire. The center condemned the killings, describing it as a clear violation of all international laws and the Geneva convention regarding protection of civilians during war.

Israel continues to obstruct Palestinians’ movement by denying them access to their land near the borders with Israel, said al-Mezan.
