RAMALLAH, February 15, 2011 (WAFA) – Economists Tuesday called on the next Palestinian government to work on ending poverty, unemployment and price increases. They said dealing with these issues will make any government program successful.
They said that the next government should achieve economic and social balance as well as free market system since it is the base of the Palestinian economy. It should also give more attention to the marginalized poor people, said Samir Abdullah, director of Palestinian Economic Policy Research Institute, MAS.
Abdullah, former minister of economy, said that the previous government should not have worked only on the private sector. It should have also given attention to the poor and unemployed.
He also called for the implementation of job creation projects which would reduce unemployment.
