RAMALLAH, February 14, 2011 (WAFA) - General Secretary of the Palestinian People’s Party (PPP) Bassam Salhi Monday said that the new government will end Palestinian division and reinforce the status of the Palestinian cause.

Salhi said that the new government will unite the Palestinian political system and fulfill what has been agreed on in previous dialogue and in Egyptian paper. It will also work on holding local and national elections, reactivating the PLO’s role, which will help in solving the Palestinian division. 

All controversial issues will be discussed to find appropriate solutions, he added.

Salhi called on Hamas to make bold decisions concerning the formation of a new national unity government.

He said that it is “time to make crucial decisions which will end the division and bring the Palestinian cause to what it was on in order to face the challenges ahead.”

Salhi’s statement followed Fayyad’s cabinet’s resignation.
