Unofficial Translation of the Government Resignation Letter

RAMALLAH, February 14, 2011 (WAFA )- Prime Minister Salam Fayyad Monday tendered his government‘s resignation to President Mahmoud Abbas, who has asked him to form the new government.

Following is an unofficial translation of the resignation letter:

Your Excellency President Mahmud Abbas (Abu Mazen),

President of the State of Palestine,

Chairman of Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization,

President of the Palestinian National Authority

I  hereby submit the government resignation hoping your Excellency would accept it to make way to put together a new government capable on building on what the current government has achieved toward the project Palestine: Ending the Occupation, Establishing the State.

I am full of hope  that the next government  will act and mobilize all potential to complete the implementation of this program and the priorities of the document Homestretch to Freedom, which ensures the national readiness to build the state putting the world to face its responsibilities toward the “September target date” aimed at ending the Israeli occupation and allowing our people to determine their future, build the independent State of Palestinian on the 1967 borders with Jerusalem as its capital.

Your Excellency, please accept my gratitude and the gratitude of my government colleagues for your directions and for your constant support, which enabled the government to fulfill its duties.
