RAMALLAH, October 23, 2009 (WAFA)- Dozens were injured and suffocated with tear gas canisters used by the Israeli occupation soldiers in their attempt to suppress the weekly demonstrations of the West Bank villages of Bil’in and Ni’lin west of Ramallah against the Israeli Apartheid Wall.
The Bil’in demonstration started directly after the Friday prayers, by a group of international and Israeli peace activists; in addition to Bil’in citizens who raised Palestinian flags and banners condemning the occupation racist policy of building the Wall, settlements and land seizure, detention, killing of innocent people, and set up barriers and closing streets.
Tens of the Israeli who are refusing to serve in the Israeli army participated in the demonstration, considering what the Israeli soldiers acts against Palestinians as illegal.
A “Follow the Women” delegation, in visit to Bil’in, participated in the demonstration by riding their bicycles toward the Wall, as the delegation participation is part of a tour to Palestine, includes visiting the refugees camps, villages, cities, and the resistance and conflict points with the Israeli occupation. The delegation also had a visit the Palestinian Refugee camps in Syria, Lebanon and Jordan. The aim of the tour is to promote peace in region and ending of the occupation of the Palestinian occupied territory, as the delegation coordinator; Dita Reagan said.
On the other hand, tens of retired Palestinian militaries participated in the demonstration, to express their solidarity with the people of Bil'in, saying they are organizing a festival next Sunday at 3:00 pm in village to support its citizens in the face of the occupation.
Demonstrators walked in the village streets, chanting national songs, condemning the occupation. Once they have approached the wall gate close to the western side of it, the Israeli soldiers closed the gate, preventing them from entering and launching tear gas against them, which caused tens of suffocations cases among demonstrators.
Delegation of the 'Follow the Women' has visited Bil'in, as they have listened to details from the Popular Committee, on the experience of the village struggle against the construction of the Wall and settlements
In Ni’lin village Six people were injured, as more than 200 demonstrators attended the weekly demonstration against the Apartheid Wall.
Demonstrators called for Palestinian unity and the protestors demanded a stop to all factional rivalry and unite against the occupation.
