RAMALLAH, October14, 2009 (WAFA)- Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) said the Overall Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the Palestinian Territory with its 2004 base year (2004=100) reached
In a press release, PCBS stated the CPI increased by 0.54% compared with August 2009, and increased by 1.68% compared with September 2008.
PCBS Analyzed the consumer price developments for August indicates increased in the following major expenditure groups: education by + 6.97%; furniture, household goods by + 1.37%; medical care by + 0.83%; restaurants, cafés and hotels by +0.53%; miscellaneous goods and services by + 0.40%; transportation by + 0.29%; housing by + 0.26%; food and soft drinks by + 0.28%; communications by + 0.27%; recreational, cultural goods & services by + 0.17%; textiles, clothing and footwear by + 0.16%.
PCBS noted that , there were decreases in other major expenditure groups including: Alcoholic Beverages and tobacco by - 0.06%.
PCBS said, OPT regions experienced different overall CPI developments as follows: Jerusalem J1 + 0.63%; Gaza Strip + 0.42%; West Bank (Excluding those parts of Jerusalem which were annexed by Israel in 1967): +0.40% .
