NEW YORK, September 25,2009 (WAFA)- President Mahmoud Abbas stressed Friday that time is running out and dangers are mounting up due to the continuation of the Palestinian people’s agony who is submitted to ever lasting occupation in the world.
In a speech before the UN General Assembly 64th Session, President Abbas warned that the Middle East faces dangerous problems represented by the 'lack of commitment to the charter of this organization, and the extent to which resolutions are implemented, far away of double standards.'
He said that UN archives contained 'not tens, but hundreds of resolutions which have not been implemented,' documenting the 'suffering of the Palestinian people… to which the UN is a living witness.'
Abbas blamed 'Israel's colonial occupation' for stalling a peace agreement between Israel and the Palestinian people, specifically Israeli settlement policy in east Jerusalem and the West Bank security barrier, which he repeatedly referred to as the 'Apartheid Wall.'
He called upon the international community to support International Law. to pressurize Israel to halt settlement activities in the Palestinian Territory and to adhere to the signed accords and to end its occupation.
