President Abbas Calls on Palestinians to Meet

Al-KUWAIT, January 19, 2009 (WAFA)- The Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas called on all Palestinian factions to meet, immediately, in Egypt, to reach an agreement.

In the economic summit held in Kuwait, Abbas said that they must end the national division and that national unity, harmony and partnership is all they have.

He stressed that a national reconciliation government is required now to face the humanitarian disaster, to open the crossings, to begin reconstruction, and to hold presidential and legislative elections.

He pointed out that, regardless of the justifications given by Israel, this criminal war can not be accepted.

The president demanded interest to be made for the protection and international forces suggestions, in addition to the Egyptian initiative, the UN Security Council Resolution 1860 and the decisions of this summit.
