President Receives UN Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict
RAMALLAH, April 14, 2007 (WAFA) - President Mahmoud Abbas met on Saturday with Secretary General Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict, Radhika Coomaraswamy, in the presidential HQ in Ramallah city.
During the meeting, the President briefed Coomaraswamy on the latest developments in the Palestinian territories and the exerted efforts to end international siege imposed on the Palestinian people.
They also tackled the possible ways to push the peace process forward after the latest Arab summit in Riyadh.
The President expressed the PA commitment towards UN plans and programmes aimed at helping Palestinian children.
For her part, Coomaraswamy said that peace is essential at this moment, expressing UN support to President Abbas efforts towards reaching peace in the region .
