300 International Women to Take their 3rd Bicycle Ride to Jericho
JERICHO, April 13, 2007 (WAFA) - On Sunday, April 15th, 300 international women from 30 different countries will take their 3rd bicycle ride to Jericho, The International Solidarity Movement (ISM) SAID.
ISM said that these members of Follow the Women support peace and an end to the violence in Palestine and the Middle East.
The aims of Follow the Women are to raise awareness of how the current situation in the Middle East affects the lives of women and children in the region; to show solidarity towards women in the region; to increase support networks between women all around the world; to fund a counseling center in Ramallah, Palestine for the victims living in that area of conflict; and to bring an end to violence and suffering in the region
In order to work towards achieving these aims, Follow the Women has carried out three different cycle rides, the third ride will arrive to Jericho, Palestine on April 15th 2007. They will start they bicycle ride At Mashrou' Al Alami through the city. They will have an official reception at Al Qamar hostel where they will have a Joint conference with Palestinian Women organization in Al-Qamar hostel in Jericho at 4:00 pm.
On the April 16th Follow the Women will take off to Bethlehem via Abu Dis where they will ride their bicycles along the Wall starting from Ras Kubsa to Al Quds University playground where a media event will take place. At 3:30 pm they will be received by the crowds and the officials of Bethlehem district at the Municipality of Beit Sahour.
On April 17th, they will visit the Church of the Nativity and leave Bethlehem to Jerusalem. After touring the old city, they will be hosted by the Coalition for Jerusalem, ending their visit at Dar Altifil Al Arabi.
