Egypt to Provide GS with Electricity
CAIRO, August 28, 2006 (WAFA) - Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Energy Dr. Hassan Younis announced Monday that the ministry will start Tuesday linking the Gaza Strip (GS) with the Egyptian electricity network.... Following the signing two contracts with the Acting Chairman of the Palestinian Authority of Energy and Natural Resources, Dr. Omar Katana, Dr. Younis said that the supply would be through extending cables of 22 KV, as well reparing of Gaza power plant that was destroyed by Israeli air strikes on June 28, 2006.... He stated that the linkage will be through using Egyptian equipments with investments that would reach to 25 million Egyptian Pounds.... Dr. Younis said that the first contract will provide Rafah area, while the second includes re-operating Gaza power plant.... E.B. (13:26 P) (10:26 GMT)
