Editorials and Articles in Palestinian Dailies
RAMALLAH, September 20, 2005, (WAFA)- Main Palestinian dailies tackled several political issues.
Al-Hayat
Omar al-Ghoul said in an article" the Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon announced, in his meetings and press conference on margin of the UN meetings in New York, that he will hinder the Palestinian legislative elections if Hamas Movement decides to participate without giving up arms.
He adds: Sharon said in his address to the UN General Assembly that he wants an independent democratic Palestinian state to be born. So, after Sharon made these two announcements, which one should we believe? And what is the state that Sharon wants, and what is the type of democracy that should prevail?
Al-Quds
Al-Quds daily said in its editorial: former US Ambassador to Israel Daniel C. Kurtzer , after completing his mission, wanted to farewell his hosts with more than compliments, but rather he created an American political stance even before the results of the final status negotiations, a stance that America has always wanted to make it ambiguous- it is the Jewish colonies in the West Bank.
Al-Ayyam
Hani al-Masry said in an article: after Silvan Shalom and Shimon Peres, Sharon threatened to hinder the Palestinian elections if Hamas joins it without throwing its weapon away. Sharon told the New York Times that he will save no efforts not to help the Palestinian hold the legislative council, adding that Israel may not remove the checkpoints in the West Bank to make it hard for the Palestinians to cast their votes.
