President to Take "Serious Decisions" over Forming new Government

RAMALLAH, October 19, 2006, (WAFA)- President Mahmoud Abbas said Thursday that he would take serious decisions over forming a government that would meet the international, Arab and Palestinian legitimacy.

During an Iftar meal (for Moslems in Ramadan fasting month), in Ramallah, President Abbas said that the serious decision should be taken for lifting the siege imposed on the Palestinian people and to ease their suffer.

He added that such decisions would allow the PNA to focus on the key issues including the Israeli practices and achieving a peace that leads to establishing the Palestinian state, with Jerusalem as its capital, to live in stability side by side with Israel.

"All of you are witnesses on the escalating poverty and privation as a result of the financial and economic siege," President said before foreign and Arab diplomats, archbishops and sheikhs who attended the Iftar meal.

He asserted that both Christians and Moslems have been suffering in Palestine long decades ago as a result of the Israeli occupation.

President highlighted that Globalisation should focus not only on business, capital and communication but also on dialogue between civilisations and religions.

He praised the foreign and Arab countries for their aid to ease the suffer of the Palestinian people, asserting that such support has not ended the Israeli occupation.

President concluded his speech by expressing his warm greetings to Christians and Moslems for their efforts and initiatives to deepen dialogue among Christians, Moslems and other religions.
