IOF Establishes New Detention Camp in Rafah
GAZA, May 24, 2004, (WAFA) – Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) established a new detention camp on the so called 'Philadelphi Route' on the borders between the southern Gaza town of Rafah and Egypt, Palestinian prisoners’ affairs sources said Sunday.... The sources said that since the Israeli large-scale operation into Rafah town and its refugee camp, the IOF arrested 180 Palestinians, adding that a detention camp of tents was established in an area controlled by Israel on the borderline.... The Palestinian Association to Defend Prisoners (PADP) in Israeli jails revealed that Israeli interrogators have been interrogating and torturing the detainees for more than a week.... “The Palestinian prisoners are badly treated and brutally tortured into the detention camp, adding that among the prisoners there are doctors, nurses and ambulance drivers,†the Association said.... It appealed to the international human rights organizations to stop keeping silent over what is happening in Rafah, adding “they must move and save the poor Palestinians who are suffering day after day....
