Mexico Condemns Israel's Military Operation in Gaza
MAXICO CITY, May 21, 2004 (WAFA)-The Mexican government condemns, via its Foreign Ministry, the Israeli killing of innocent civilians in the Gaza Strip city of Rafah.... In a press release issued Thursday, the Mexican government expressed its rejection of the indiscriminate use of force and the practice of collective punishment and described it as a violation of international law.... "Such actions violate the norms of international humanitarian law, specifically the Fourth Geneva Convention", the press release said.... It also expressed its support to the U.N. Security Council Resolution that urges Israel to stop its military actions.... The press release called on the two parties (Palestinian and Israelis) "to return to table of negotiations and reach a peaceful settlement as set forth in the Road Map peace plan and the pertinent U.N. Security Council and General Assembly resolutions in order to make progress towards building a lasting peace in the region"....
