RAFAH, May 19, 2004, (WAFA) – A Palestinian doctor operated Wednesday a surgery for a civilian who was shot by Israeli Occupation Forces( IOF) in Rafah city without using anesthetic, Palestinian medical sources said.... The sources confirmed that Ashraf Abu Mar’ai was shot with a live bullet but the IOF intensive shooting denied any ambulance’s access into the neighbourhood of Tal al-Sultan. Thus a doctor had to operate Mar’ai without using anesthetic.... Later on, Mar’ai was transferred to al-Najaar Hospital in the city where he was reported as being in high critical conditions, the medics said.... Meanwhile, another child was shot in the neighbourhood but the IOF troops prevented the ambulances from reaching the area.... Rafah city has been witnessing a large-scale Israeli ethnic cleansing campaign for a week where more than 20 civilians were killed, dozens were wounded and houses demolished....
