PLO Reiterates Commitment to Peace, Denounces Israeli Crimes
RAMALLAH, March 1, 2004, (WAFA)- The Palestine Liberation Organisation
(PLO) reiterated yesterday its commitment to the Road Map peace plan and appreciated the Israeli peace activists' efforts against the Apartheid Wall....
In a PLO meeting, headed by President Yasser Arafat, in Ramallah, the
Executive Committee (EC) and the representatives of the PLO factions,
appreciated the Israeli peace activists for their continued efforts for a "two-state solution" for the Palestinian and Israeli peoples....
During the meeting, the participants denounced the continued Israeli crimes
particularly the recent assassination of five Palestinian citizens in Gaza and Balata refugee camp near Nablus and the bombardment of residential neighbourhoyods
in the Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPT)....
The PLO also confirmed that the Israeli escalation leads but to the destruction of the peace process and preventing the establishment of the Palestinian independent state....
The PLO called on the Quartet to reactivate its role in the peace process
and set a timetable for the implementation of the Road Map....
It also appealed to the Quartet to send monitors to guarantee a cease-fire,
a halt of the construction of the Apartheid Wall and a withdrawal from the OPT....
Regarding The International Court of Justice (ICJ) hearings on the Apartheid
wall, the PLO expressed its hope that the advisory opinion, based on the international law and the 4th Geneva Convention, would reinforce the peace process in Palestine and end the Israeli occupation....
The PLO praised the efforts of all countries, which participated in the hearings of the court.
