Israeli forces detain five, seize cash from Tulkarm town

TULKAREM, January 12, 2018 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Friday detained five Palestinians and seized cash during an overnight raid into Illar town, northeast of Tulkarem in the northern West Bank, said a detainee’s parent.

Muayyad Taqatqa told WAFA that Israeli forces stormed his family home at 1:00 o’clock am and thoroughly searched it, causing property damage.

Forces detained his 17-year-old son and seized the sum of ILS 17,400, JD 750 and $600 during the raid.

According to Taqatqa, Israeli soldiers stormed and ransacked several neighboring homes belonging to his brothers and physically assaulted his nephew, who was a former prisoner, fracturing his arm, before he was rushed to a hospital.

Soldiers also smashed the windows of his vehicle and stole spare parts before detaining four of his relatives.

This came as Israeli forces continued to impose blanket movement restrictions on Palestinians in the northern West Bank district of Nablus and conducted large-scale raids following the killing of an Israeli settler for the third consecutive day.
