Woman among seven Palestinians detained from West Bank

HEBRON, Monday, June 10, 2019 (WAFA) – Israeli forces detained seven Palestinians, including a woman, mostly during multiple overnight raids across the West Bank.

Media activist in Beit Ummar Mohammad Awad told WAFA that Israeli forces detained three Palestinians, including a woman, in the town, located to the north of Hebron.

Soldiers searched several houses in the town, turning them upside down and destroying some of their entrances.

Awad also confirmed an Israeli military raid in Beit Awwa town, west of Hebron, resulting in the detention of a Palestinian.

In Bethlehem district, Israeli forces conducted a raid in Aida refugee camp, north of Bethlehem, resulting in the detention of a Palestinian.

In Salfit district, local sources confirmed that Israeli military vehicles stormed Kafr Ad-Dik town, west of Salfit, where soldiers rounded up a Palestinian.

In Jenin district, security sources said a Palestinian was detained after being stopped an Israeli military roadblock, west of Jenin.

In Jerusalem, police carried out a large-scale search raid, thoroughly searching a number of houses and interrogating occupants. No detentions were reported though.

Israeli forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.

These raids, which take place also in areas under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.
