RAMALLAH, Friday, June 07, 2019 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas today phone-called and praised Palestinian refugee Saber Murad, who has been shot in the head after throwing himself in front of crowds when a gunman opened fire in the northern Lebanon city of Tripoli on Monday.
Murad, 33, is reportedly in a "stable condition" despite being shot in the head after throwing himself in front of crowds when a gunman opened fire.
The assailant, identified as Abdul-Rahman Mabsout, launched the "lone wolf" attack shooting at police and army vehicles in different parts of the city while riding a motorcycle, killing two security officers and two soldiers.
As such, President Abbas decided to award him the Medal of Courage. He asked the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Lebanon, Ashraf Dabour, to take care of him, supervise his treatment and provide his family with all what it needs as a result of this brave heroic act.
According to his Murad‘s father, Nasser, his condition is improving but the bullet lodged in his head may cause him problems with his sight. "Thank God that the bullets in his back did not hit his spine," his father added.
Nasser Murad told local media his son had returned to Lebanon to settle permanently after emigrating to Australia.
