General Supervisor of official media signs MoU with Egypt‘s satellite giant NileSat

CAIRO, Thursday, May 30, 2019 (WAFA) – Minister Ahmad Assaf, General Supervisor of the official Palestinian media and Palsat‘s Acting Board Chairman, signed late Wednesday a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Egyptian Minister Ahmed Anis, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian satellite company "NileSat".

The agreement aims to enhance cooperation in the field of information services and satellite broadcasting between Palestine and Egypt in addition to boosting exchange and development of information services.

At the beginning of the meeting, which was held in Cairo, Minister Assaf gave a detailed explanation on the current situation and the difficulties facing the Palestinian cause, which hindered and tightened the media work under the Israeli occupation and its arbitrary procedures and practices.

Minister Assaf inspected the studios of NileSat satellite operator and its latest technical equipment.

Assaf said that the signing of the agreement with NileSat aims to strengthen cooperation and relationship between the Egyptian NileSat company and the Palestinian satellite company "PalSat", which was established by a decision of President Mahmoud Abbas under the slogan "Our Space".

He affirmed that there is a great assistance from Egypt, especially from Minister Anis and the accompanying staff, to enhance this cooperation, pointing out that Palestine moved to HD broadcasting technology "which has different requirements than the previous one."

For his part, Minister Anis told WAFA after the meeting that this memorandum is the beginning of a larger cooperation, stressing that the company‘s capabilities are always open to Palestine "and will remain a strong media platform for the benefit of the Palestinian people."

He added that a full package would be presented and new areas would be opened for Palestine and Palestinian media cadres.
