Hamdallah says government may be forced to conduct elections in West Bank alone

RAMALLAH, February 26, 2017 (WAFA) – Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah said on Sunday that in case Hamas rejects to allow the government to hold the municipal elections on time, the government will decide to hold the elections in the West Bank alone and will postpone the elections in the Gaza Strip.

Hamdallah, during a ceremony in Nablus in which the government launched a convoy of medical drugs to the besieged Gaza Strip, told reporters that upon consultations with President Mahmoud Abbas, Hamas was given a period of seven days to declare its position regarding holding the elections in Gaza.
