Palestinian Presidency warns of dangers of settlement plans aimed at seizing 100 sites across West Bank

RAMALLAH, Wednesday, July 1, 2026 (WAFA) – The Palestinian Presidency on Wednesday warned of the dangers posed by settlement plans prepared by Israeli settler groups in the occupied West Bank, with the backing and encouragement of the Israeli government, aimed at seizing 100 locations across the territory in an effort to nullify the Oslo Accords.

In a statement, the Presidency said the plans represent a dangerous escalation and a further entrenchment of Israel's annexation and settlement policies, describing them as a flagrant violation of international law and international legitimacy resolutions, as well as evidence of the far-right Israeli government's determination to destroy any opportunity for peace and stability.

It added that the Israeli government continues to impose facts on the ground by force in the occupied Palestinian territory, in open defiance of the international community and in an attempt to undermine the two-state solution and all international efforts aimed at ending the occupation.

The Presidency reaffirmed that all settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem, are illegal and null and void under international law, constituting a grave violation of United Nations resolutions, foremost among them UN Security Council Resolution 2334. It stressed that such activities will neither grant Israel any rights or sovereignty over Palestinian land nor alter the legal and historical status of the occupied territory.

The statement held the Israeli government fully responsible for the dangerous consequences of its continued settlement expansion and aggressive policies, as well as for any escalation that may result from its continued defiance of international legitimacy. It called on the international community, particularly the US administration, to act immediately and take concrete deterrent measures to compel Israel to halt all settlement activities and comply with international law.

The Presidency stressed that the Palestinian people will remain steadfast on their land and continue defending their legitimate national rights, affirming that the occupation and settlement enterprise will come to an end. It reiterated that the establishment of an independent, sovereign Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital on the 1967 borders, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative, remains the only path to achieving security, stability and peace in the region.
