JERUSALEM, March 14, 2026 (WAFA) – Jewish extremists have continued incitement campaigns targeting the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in Jerusalem as Israeli occupation authorities maintain the closure of the holy site during the last ten days of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
According to the Jerusalem Governorate, extremist rabbi Baruch Marzel published an AI-generated image portraying what he claimed was an aircraft base located beneath Al-Aqsa Mosque. The image was accompanied by a sarcastic caption alleging the presence of a “secret air force base in Jerusalem.”
The governorate described the post as dangerous incitement that could serve as a pretext for justifying attacks against the mosque, warning that such rhetoric contributes to escalating tensions surrounding the holy site.
It noted that the incident follows earlier calls made by rabbi Yosef Mizrachi, who previously urged bombing Al-Aqsa Mosque and later claimed that it had already been destroyed by an Iranian missile.
Meanwhile, Israeli authorities have continued to prevent worshippers from accessing Al-Aqsa Mosque for the 15th consecutive day, citing security conditions related to the ongoing war with Iran.
The closure has coincided with the final days of Ramadan, a period that typically sees a significant increase in the number of worshippers visiting the site for prayers and religious retreat.
For the first time since 1967, worshippers have been barred from performing prayers and observing religious retreat at Al-Aqsa Mosque during this period, with the compound witnessing the absence of worshippers during the last Friday of Ramadan.
The Jerusalem Governorate stressed that the ongoing actions cannot be viewed as temporary security measures, as Israeli authorities claim, but rather as part of a broader political and ideological effort aimed at altering the existing religious, historical, and legal status quo at Al-Aqsa Mosque.
