President Abbas meets Norway’s King Harald V in Oslo

OSLO, February 11, 2026 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas on Wednesday met with King Harald V of Norway at the Royal Palace in Oslo.

President Abbas expressed his sincere appreciation to King Harald V not only for Norway’s principled positions on and support of the Palestinian Question, which culminated in its formal recognition of Palestine as a state, which took effect on May 28, 2024, but also for its support for the Palestinian budget and humanitarian and development assistance to the Palestinian people.

They discussed the means to strengthen the historic bilateral relations in a manner that serves the interests of the two peoples and touched upon several regional and international issues of mutual concern.

President Abbas briefed the King of Norway on the serious situation in the Palestinian Territory, with focus on the catastrophic humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip, particularly given the fact that Israel is continuing to carry out its policy of genocidal aggression, blockade and starvation against the Palestinian people and implement measures intended to undermine the institutions of the Palestinian state and destroy the prospects for the two-state solution.

The meeting was attended by PLO Executive Committee Member Ziad Abu Amr, Presidential Diplomatic Adviser Majdi al-Khalidi, and the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Norway, Marie Antoinette Sedin.

President Abbas arrived on Tuesday evening in Oslo on a two-day official visit aimed at strengthening friendship and cooperation between the two countries and discussing the latest developments in Palestine and the region.
