MEXICO CITY, December 20, 2025 (WAFA) — The Embassy of the State of Palestine in Mexico commemorated the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People through a series of four cultural and diplomatic events that brought together lawmakers, diplomats, United Nations officials, cultural figures, and members of the public.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the embassy said the program opened on December 7 at the Guadalajara International Book Fair, one of the world’s leading literary gatherings. Palestinian Ambassador to Mexico Nadya Rasheed and Palestinian researcher Shadi Rohana led a collective reading of Palestinian poetry, underscoring literature as a form of struggle and a means of preserving culture and national identity.
On December 9, the embassy, in cooperation with Senator Gerardo Fernández Noroña, organized a forum titled “Palestine in the Senate: memory, solidarity, and dignity” at the Senate of the Republic. The event featured a video message from UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese, as well as testimony from Alma Abed, a young survivor from Gaza now living in Mexico, who shared her experience of loss and survival.
On December 10, the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in partnership with the United Nations system in Mexico, hosted an event marking the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. The program included messages affirming Mexico’s solidarity with Palestine, remarks by Ambassador Rasheed on the importance of international solidarity, and a reading of a poem by Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish.
The embassy said the events aimed to strengthen awareness, promote solidarity, and reaffirm international support for the rights of the Palestinian people through cultural dialogue and diplomatic engagement.
