NEW YORK, October 28, 2025 (WAFA) – The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) announced on Tuesday that more than 470,000 displacements have been recorded towards northern Gaza since the ceasefire agreement went into effect on October 10.
The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) explained in a statement that Palestinian families in Gaza continue to return to their destroyed homes, despite the dangers surrounding many buildings, the spread of unexploded ordnance, and the urgent need for water, food, and basic services.
It reported that Palestinians in Gaza have continued to move across the Strip over the past two days, with more than 470,000 movements northward recorded since the ceasefire, according to the UN News website.
OCHA indicated that aid continues to enter the Strip, stating that more than 300 trucks loaded with aid crossed into Gaza, most of them through the Israeli Kerem Shalom crossing on Friday and Saturday.
Meanwhile, UN Spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric said that UN partners continue their work to reduce the threat of unexploded ordnance in the Gaza Strip, warning of its danger, especially as Gaza residents return to their homes.
He reported that since October 7, 2023, humanitarian workers have recorded 150 incidents involving explosive ordnance, resulting in injuries, including children.
Despite the end of the war, approximately 20,000 unexploded Israeli shells and missiles remain, posing a direct and real threat to the lives of the 2.4 million Palestinians living in the Gaza Strip.
He warned Palestinians against tampering with unexploded ordnance or suspicious objects from the Israeli military.
