LONDON, September 8, 2025 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas today received at his residence in London a delegation of British doctors and representatives of medical institutions who were present in the Gaza Strip during the genocidal war waged by the Israeli occupation forces, where they provided treatment to wounded and injured Palestinians.
The President listened to their painful testimonies and experiences during their humanitarian work in Gaza Strip hospitals, and the systematic targeting of civilians, hospitals, and medical personnel they witnessed.
The delegation also reviewed the urgent needs of the health sector in Gaza and the role played by returning doctors in conveying the truth and conveying the voices of the victims to British and international public opinion regarding the atrocities and war crimes committed against the Palestinian people.
On behalf of the Palestinian people, President Abbas expressed his thanks and appreciation to the British doctors for their noble humanitarian role, which reflected the living conscience of the British people. He announced his decision to award them high medals from the State of Palestine in appreciation of their dedication to serving humanity.
President Abbas also discussed the catastrophic conditions in the Gaza Strip, stressing the immediate need to halt the Israeli aggression, withdraw the occupying forces, and provide urgent humanitarian aid. He emphasized the State of Palestine's readiness to assume its duties in the Gaza Strip and provide basic services to its people during the recovery and reconstruction phases.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the President commended the United Kingdom's intention to recognize the State of Palestine and its contribution to international efforts to end the aggression and provide urgent aid to the Gaza Strip.
President Abbas arrived in the United Kingdom yesterday evening for a three-day state visit at the kind invitation of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
