RAMALLAH, September 7, 2025 (WAFA) – The Palestinian Presidency has welcomed the Global Governance Initiative proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit held earlier this month.
The initiative is based on five key principles: sovereign equality, adherence to international law, commitment to multilateralism, placing people at the center, and achieving tangible outcomes.
In a statement, the Presidency praised the initiative as a continuation of China’s consistent and principled positions, which align with the strategic partnership launched by President Mahmoud Abbas and President Xi Jinping during their latest meeting in Beijing.
The Presidency also welcomed China’s endorsement of the New York Declaration Backing the Two-State Solution, saying it reflects Beijing’s firm stance on the Palestinian cause and its continued support for Palestine’s efforts to gain full membership in the United Nations.
The Presidency expressed deep appreciation for the strong ties and strategic partnership between the two friendly nations, expressing the gratitude of President Abbas and the Palestinian leadership for China’s enduring support for the rights of the Palestinian people and its active role in advocating for them across international platforms.
