Presidential spokesperson affirms all settlement projects are illegal, warns of consequences of occupation’s aggression on Gaza

RAMALLAH, August 20, 2025 (WAFA) – Presidential spokesperson, Nabil Abu Rudeineh, strongly condemned and rejected the approval by the Settlement Subcommittee of the Israeli occupation authorities to build 3,400 new colonial settlement units in the E1 area.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Abu Rudeineh stated that the plan violates international law and resolutions of international legitimacy, particularly UN Security Council Resolution 2334, which affirms that all settlements are illegal, whether in the Gaza Strip or the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.

The spokesperson stated that the occupation authorities are defying the international community, which has issued statements condemning and warning against the advancement of this settlement plan, describing it as a dangerous escalation that would completely sever the northern West Bank from the south.

Abu Rudeineh held the Israeli occupation government fully responsible for the repercussions of these dangerous and aggressive policies, which he warned would ignite the entire region.

The Presidential Spokesperson called on the U.S. administration to immediately intervene to put an end to this Israeli absurdity and to compel it to cease its all-out war against the Palestinian people. This includes stopping the ongoing genocidal war, especially amid Israel’s threats to escalate aggression against the people of the Gaza Strip, as well as halting its attacks in the West Bank, the rising settler terrorism there, and the assaults on Islamic and Christian holy sites.

He further urged the release of Palestinian funds withheld by the Israeli occupation.
