Vice President discusses situation in Gaza with Egyptian Foreign Minister

RAMALLAH, August 19, 2025 (WAFA) – Vice President of the State of Palestine and Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Hussein Al-Sheikh, held a phone conversation on Tuesday with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty to discuss the latest developments in the Gaza Strip and urgent efforts to secure a ceasefire.

During the call, Al-Sheikh outlined the Palestinian position and discussed the unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe facing the Palestinian people. He stressed the need for intensified international pressure to immediately halt the Israeli offensive and to allow the entry of urgent humanitarian aid.

The Vice President praised Egypt's central role, alongside Qatar and the United States, in mediation efforts. He expressed deep appreciation for Cairo's intensive contacts aimed at achieving a ceasefire, stopping the bloodshed, and fostering prospects for security and stability in the region.
