RAMALLAH, August 16, 2025 (WAFA) – Vice President of the State of Palestine and Deputy Chairman of the PLO, Hussein Al-Sheikh, affirmed on Saturday that imprisoned leader Marwan Barghouti represents a symbol of the Palestinian struggle, and that the Palestinian leadership is making continuous efforts at all levels to secure his release and the release of all detainees held inside Israeli jails.
This came during Al-Sheikh's visit to the home of Barghouti's family, as part of his reaffirmation of the steadfast Palestinian position on the issue of prisoners as a national priority.
During the visit, he was accompanied by Head of the Commission for Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs, Raed Abu Al-Hummus, Fatah Secretary for Ramallah and Al-Bireh, Muwafaq Sahwil, and several members of the regional committee.
Al-Sheikh emphasized that the suffering of Palestinian detainees due to Israel's policies is a slow execution that requires an immediate intervention of international bodies and organizations to protect them.
