RAMALLAH, August 8, 2025 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas on Friday called for immediate action to stop the Israeli cabinet’s plan to fully occupy Gaza.
President Abbas made his remarks during a phone call with his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
Abbas expressed his gratitude to Egypt for the steadfast political positions in supporting the Palestinian cause, as well as for the continuous humanitarian assistance provided to the Palestinian people.
He commended Egypt’s positions in rejecting and preventing attempts to forcibly displace Palestinians, affirming that the State of Palestine stands alongside Egypt in confronting all attempts to undermine its security, stability, and civil peace.
He slammed the Israeli cabinet’s decision to fully occupy Gaza as a new crime added to the series of Israeli crimes in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, and stressing that it must be stopped immediately.
He affirmed that he will continue political action at all levels, including approaching the UN Security Council, the League of Arab States, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, to rally international and regional positions against these plans.
He stressed the importance of enabling the State of Palestine to assume full responsibility in the Gaza Strip, the necessity of an immediate and permanent ceasefire, the release of hostages and prisoners, the entry of humanitarian aid, the assumption of security responsibilities by the State of Palestine with Arab and international support, and the withdrawal of occupation forces from the Strip—ensuring the unity of the system, the law, and legitimate arms under the umbrella of the state.
