RAMALLAH, August 8, 2025 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas warned on Friday of the Israeli cabinet’s decision to fully occupy Gaza and considered it a new crime added to the series of Israeli crimes in the West Bank, including Jerusalem.
President Abbas made his remarks during a phone call with Jordan’s King Abdullah II.
President Abbas expressed his deep gratitude to Jordan for the unwavering political positions in support of the Palestinian cause, as well as for the continuous humanitarian assistance provided to the Palestinian people.
He commended Jordan for its positions in rejecting and preventing attempts to forcibly displace Palestinians, affirming that the State of Palestine stands alongside Jordan in confronting all attempts to undermine its security, stability, and civil peace.
He affirmed ongoing political action at all levels, including approaching the UN Security Council, the League of Arab States, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, to rally international and regional positions against these plans.
He stressed the importance of enabling the State of Palestine to assume full responsibility in the Gaza Strip, the necessity of an immediate and permanent ceasefire, the release of hostages and prisoners, the unimpeded entry of humanitarian aid, the assumption of security responsibilities by the State of Palestine with Arab and international support, and the withdrawal of the occupation forces from the Strip—ensuring the unity of the system, the law, and legitimate arms under the umbrella of the state.
King Abdullah II reaffirmed Jordan’s steadfast positions in supporting the Palestinian people and their steadfastness on their land, stressing that Jordan will continue to provide humanitarian assistance to the people in the Gaza Strip by air and land.
