RAMALLAH, July 31, 2025 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas met on Thursday with Sheikh Mohammad Hussein, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and Palestine, at the presidential headquarters in Ramallah.
During the meeting, the Mufti briefed President Abbas on the difficult conditions facing Palestinians in Jerusalem, including the ongoing restrictions and siege imposed by Israeli authorities on the holy city.
He also detailed repeated assaults on Islamic and Christian religious sites carried out by Israeli colonists under the protection of the Israeli occupation forces.
President Abbas reiterated his strong condemnation of these continuing attacks on sacred places, emphasizing the importance of coordinated action with Arab and international partners to put an end to such violations.
He stressed that supporting Jerusalem and bolstering the resilience of its Palestinian population remains a top priority for the Palestinian leadership, despite the difficult circumstances created by the ongoing Israeli aggression and financial and economic blockade imposed on the Palestinian people.
