RAMALLAH, May 25, 2025 (WAFA) - Vice President of the State of Palestine and Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), Hussein Al Sheikh, received today the Special Representative of the Russian Foreign Minister on the Middle East Peace Process, Vladimir Safronkov, in his office in Ramallah.

The Russian Representative to the PA, Ambassador Gocha Buachidze, was also present. The two sides discussed the latest developments in the region, particularly the humanitarian and political situation in the Gaza Strip.

During the meeting, Safronkov affirmed the Russian leadership's steadfast position of support for the Palestinian people and leadership, emphasizing the depth of historical relations between Russia and Palestine and Moscow's continued provision of political and diplomatic support to the Palestinian people and the Palestinian cause in international forums.

The Special Representative also congratulated Al Sheikh on his appointment as Vice President of the State of Palestine.

The meeting addressed international efforts to end the war in the Gaza Strip, with both sides reaffirming the need for intensive cooperation to halt the aggression and create conditions for resuming the political process based on international legitimacy resolutions.

Vice President Al Sheikh commended Russia's supportive stance and emphasized the importance of Russia's active role in supporting the political process, fulfilling the aspirations of the Palestinian people, and working to end the occupation and achieve a just and comprehensive peace in the region.
