BEIRUT, May 23, 2025 (WAFA) — President Mahmoud Abbas met on Friday with the Secretary-General of Lebanon’s Popular Nasserist Organization to discuss the latest developments in the occupied Palestinian territories and the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
President Abbas briefed the Lebanese political leader on the ongoing Israeli campaign of genocide against the Palestinian people, marked by the killing of thousands of civilians, including women and children, and a deliberate policy of blockade and starvation, especially in Gaza.
“Our priority is an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, the unimpeded entry of humanitarian and medical aid, and the full withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces,” President Abbas stated. He underscored the need for the State of Palestine to assume full civil and security responsibilities in Gaza, alongside halting Israeli attacks in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, and initiating a meaningful political process.
The President emphasized that Gaza is an inseparable part of the territory of the State of Palestine, over which the State of Palestine holds full political and legal authority, as it does over all occupied Palestinian lands.
He also expressed deep appreciation for the historical and fraternal relationship between Palestine and Lebanon, affirming his commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and thanking Lebanon for its continued support of the Palestinian cause and the two-state solution.
The leader of the Popular Nasserist Organization praised President Abbas’s stance toward Lebanon and welcomed his call for respect for Lebanese sovereignty and the rule of law.
