RAMALLAH, April 25, 2025 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas has commended Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for his recent remarks reaffirming Egypt's unwavering support for the Palestinian cause.
In a speech marking the 43rd anniversary of Sinai Liberation Day, President El-Sisi emphasized that Egypt will remain a stronghold against any attempts to liquidate the Palestinian cause. He reiterated Egypt's firm and clear stance on the urgent need to achieve a ceasefire, ensure the release of hostages, and guarantee the delivery of humanitarian aid.
El-Sisi also reiterated Egypt's categorical rejection of any attempts at forced displacement of the Palestinian people, asserting that a just and lasting peace can only be achieved through the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on international legitimacy.
President Abbas expressed deep appreciation for Egypt's position, as well as the continued support of all Arab nations rejecting any efforts to undermine the Palestinian cause.
He also commended the stance of Egypt and the rest of the Arab states that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with international resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative, remains the only path to peace, security, and stability in the region.
