JENIN, April 7, 2025 (WAFA) – The Israeli occupation Monday continued its aggression against the city of Jenin and its camp for the 77th consecutive day, bulldozing and burning homes and converting others into military barracks.
Israeli occupation forces arrested a nursing student from Jenin while she was in front of Jenin Governmental Hospital. They also arrested a young man and his mother from the vicinity of Jenin Camp.
They prevented citizens from reaching the Al-Zahraa neighborhood in the city, near Jenin Hospital, adjacent to Jenin Camp, and detained anyone who approached the area.
A general strike was observed in Jenin in protest of the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip as shops, institutions, and schools have been closed.
Meanwhile, the occupation continues to send military reinforcements and armored vehicles to the city and camp, deploying D10 bulldozers from the Al-Jalama military checkpoint to the camp's vicinity.
They also deployed infantry forces in the Al-Ghabz area around the camp and in the Wadi Burqin area.
The occupation forces are also paving and widening roads, changing the camp's landmarks, and demolishing citizens' homes.
Meanwhile, the Israeli occupation army continued its military training around the Jalameh military checkpoint, north of Jenin, where live ammunition is fired from time to time in the vicinity of the uninhabited Jenin refugee camp.
The humanitarian situation of approximately 21,000 persons forcibly displaced by the occupation from their homes in the Jenin refugee camp is worsening, particularly as they have lost their sources of income and property and are prevented from returning.
It is estimated that 600 homes have been destroyed in the camp, while nearly 3,000 housing units have become uninhabitable.
According to the data, the economic situation of the 21,000 displaced persons represents a new reality and challenge on the humanitarian level in Jenin, increasing poverty rates, especially with displaced persons losing their jobs and businesses.
The death toll in the governorate has risen to 36, while the occupation continues to launch widespread raids and arrests in the governorate's villages and towns on an almost daily basis.
