Presidency welcomes US administration's apparent retreat on call to displace Gazans

RAMALLAH, March 13, 2025 (WAFA) – Presidential Spokesperson Nabil Abu Rudeineh said, "The US retreat from the idea of displacing the Palestinian people from the Gaza Strip is an encouraging step in the right direction.

In a statement, the Presidential Spokesperson went on to say, "We hope that these balanced statements by the US administration will continue to lead to a political process based on international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative."

He further affirmed, "We once again appreciate the unified Arab position rejecting displacement, which, along with the steadfastness of the Palestinian people and their adherence to their land, has contributed to the retreat from these ideas."

The Presidential Spokesperson said, "There is a need for continued unified Palestinian-Arab coordination, as this is a very important strategic step that can be built upon to support the Arab vision for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip and the beginning of a political process that embodies the establishment of the State of Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the 1967 borders, to achieve security, stability, and prosperity for the peoples of the region."
