South African President reaffirms support for Palestine in parliamentary address

CAPE TOWN, February 7, 2025 (WAFA) – South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has reiterated his country's unwavering support and solidarity with the Palestinian people, who continue to endure immense suffering due to decades of illegal occupation.

In his speech at the opening of the 2025 parliamentary session in Cape Town, Ramaphosa emphasized that South Africa has acted in accordance with its obligations under the Genocide Convention by filing a case against Israel at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

The South African leader reaffirmed his country's full commitment to the principles of the United Nations, including the obligation for all member states to resolve international disputes through peaceful means.

South Africa has been a vocal advocate for Palestinian rights on the global stage, with its legal action at the ICJ drawing international attention to human rights violations carried out by the Israeli regime in occupied Palestine.
