RAMALLAH, January 31, 2025 (WAFA) – Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas extended his heartfelt congratulations to Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa on assuming the presidency of the Syrian Arab Republic during the transitional phase.

In a message of congratulations sent to President al-Sharaa on Friday, President Abbas expressed: "On behalf of the people and the State of Palestine, and on my behalf, we are pleased to extend our warmest fraternal greetings to Your Excellency and to the dear Syrian people, on the occasion of your assumption of the presidency of the Syrian Arab Republic during this transitional period."

"We pray that God grants you success and guides your steps toward achieving the goals and aspirations of your people," added President Abbas.

He also conveyed his strong support for Syria in its pursuit of strengthening national unity, stability, and development, stating, "We take this opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to enhancing the deep-rooted and historical fraternal relations between our countries and peoples, for the benefit of all."
