On Palestinian Martyr’s Day, Israel has killed 47,000 Palestinians since Oct 7, 2023

RAMALLAH, January 7, 2025 (WAFA) - Today marks the anniversary of “Palestinian Martyr’s Day,” which was established to commemorate the Palestinians who gave their lives for Palestine, its freedom and independence. Palestinian Martyr's Day is an occasion to commemorate the martyrs of Palestine.

It was declared four years after the first Palestinian martyr of the Palestinian revolution Ahmed Musa Salama. It became a national day to commemorate the souls of the martyrs who sacrificed themselves for Palestine.

The commemoration of this day comes to establish ties between successive Palestinian generations, in which Palestinians people remember the martyrs and the long national struggle from all factions and in everywhere inside and outside the homeland, and in prisons and the martyrs of numbers whose bodies are still being held by the occupation.

During the past year, the Israeli occupation authorities withheld the bodies of 198 Palestinians, which constitutes a third of the number of people detained in the numbered cemeteries and refrigerators, according to the National Campaign to Recover the Bodies of Martyrs.

Their number is 641.

The last martyr whose body is being held is a martyr killed by the Israeli occupation forces at dawn today in the town of Tamoun, south of Tubas. His identity has not been revealed.

These numbers do not include the bodies of the martyrs who were kidnapped by the occupation forces from the Gaza Strip.

In the latest, non-final tally, the number of martyrs in the Gaza Strip has reached 45,885 martyrs since October 7, 2023, and in the West Bank 841 martyrs since the same period.
