RAMALLAH, December 31, 2024 (WAFA) - The Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) reported that over 45,000 Palestinians have been killed since October 7, 2023, with 98% of the casualties in the Gaza Strip, marking the highest death toll in the history of the Arab-Israeli conflict. “Gaza Strip population declined by 6% by the end of 2024.”

Ola Awad, President of the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) presented a brief on the status of the Palestinian people at the end of 2024, stating that the Gaza Strip has suffered catastrophic human and material losses, with entire neighborhoods destroyed, families erased from civil records and vital infrastructure reduced to rubble.

According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, over 45,000 people in Gaza have been killed, including 17,581 children and 12,048 women, with thousands missing or displaced.

The Gaza economy has also collapsed, with unemployment soaring to 80% and its contribution to the overall Palestinian economy dropping to less than 5% from about 17% before October 7th, 2023, said PCBS.
