CAIRO, December 19, 2024 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas met with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto today on the sidelines of the Developing Eight Organization for Economic Cooperation summit in Cairo.
During the meeting, President Abbas briefed President Subianto on the latest developments in Palestine, particularly the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip, the escalation of violence in the West Bank, including occupied Jerusalem, and the rising incidents of killings and military raids across Palestinian cities, towns, villages, and refugee camps.
He also addressed Israel's continued settlement expansion and violations of sacred sites, especially in Jerusalem.
President Abbas reiterated the Palestinian leadership's commitment to ongoing political and diplomatic efforts in international forums to end the Israeli occupation of Palestinian land, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
He emphasized the importance of implementing the United Nations General Assembly resolution regarding the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice, which calls for the end of the Israeli occupation and settlement activities.
The President also expressed gratitude for Indonesia’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause in international platforms and commended the continued solidarity of the Indonesian government and people.
