President Abbas arrives in Egypt to participate in D-8 summit

 

RAMALLAH, December 18, 2024 (WAFA) – President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas arrived in the Egyptian capital Cairo on Wednesday evening to participate in the 11th summit meeting of the Developing Eight Organization for Economic Cooperation (D-8), at the invitation of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

The President is set to deliver two speeches during the summit, which will start tomorrow, Thursday. The first will be during the opening session, and the second will be during a session dedicated to the latest developments in Palestine and Lebanon.

On the sidelines of his participation in the summit, President Abbas is scheduled to meet with several heads of state and policymakers invited from various countries around the world, to brief them on the efforts exerted to stop the genocidal war against the Palestinian people, provide them with protection and aid, rebuild what was destroyed by the war and mobilize efforts to end the Israeli occupation and establish an independent and fully sovereign Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Egypt will chair the D8 Summit of the Organization of Eight Islamic Countries for Economic Cooperation, which will discuss ways to confront successive global economic and political changes.

The Developing Eight (D-8) Organization for Economic Cooperation includes: Egypt, Turkey, Bangladesh, Iran, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nigeria, and Pakistan.
