TRIPOLI, December 16, 2024 (WAFA) - Minister Ahmed Assaf, the General Supervisor of Official Palestinian Media, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with Walid Al-Lafi, Libya's Minister of State for Communication and Political Affairs, to enhance collaboration and exchange of expertise and information between Palestine's official media and Libya's National Media Institution.
The signing took place on the sidelines of the “Tripoli Media Days” event, which included the participation of officials from Arab and international media organizations, as well as journalists from various fields.
Minister Assaf emphasized the importance of strengthening ties between Palestinian and Libyan media, commending Libya's support for Palestine in its ongoing battle to challenge Israeli narratives through media efforts.
Minister Al-Lafi reiterated Libya's commitment to supporting Palestine and its just cause, expressing confidence that the new agreement will further enhance bilateral media cooperation.
Additionally, Minister Assaf met with Libya's Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Imran Al-Qib, to thank him for his support to Palestinian students in Libya, including providing numerous scholarships.
Minister Assaf also delivered a letter from Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to the President of the Libya Presidency Council, Mohamed Al-Menfi. The message outlined Palestinian efforts to end the Israeli aggression against Palestinians in Gaza, the West Bank and Jerusalem, emphasizing the need for a political path that leads to the end of the occupation and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, with Jerusalem as its capital.
Minister Assaf conveyed President Abbas's greetings to Al-Menfi, praising Libya's unwavering support for the Palestinian cause at regional and international forums. This took place during a meeting in the Libyan capital, Tripoli.
