Israeli forces impose curfew on Nablus-governorate town

NABLUS, December 10, 2024 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces Tuesday evening imposed curfew on Madama town, south of the occupied West Bank city of Nablus, according to local sources.

They said that the occupation forces stormed the town, simultaneously while firing intense barrages of live ammunition, tear gas and concussion bombs.

The gun-toting soldiers imposed curfew on the whole population of the town.

Since Sunday evening, the occupation forces have sealed off the entrances of the town with earth mounds, denying the residents access into and out of it.

The occupation forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost daily across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.

These raids are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.

Under Israeli military law army commanders have full executive, legislative and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.

Israel severely restricts Palestinians’ freedom of movement through a complex combination of over 100 fixed checkpoints, flying checkpoints, settler-only roads and various other physical obstructions.

Closures besides other measures, taken under the guise of security, are intended to entrench Israel’s 57-year-old military occupation of the West Bank and its settler colonial project which it enforces with routine and frequently deadly violence against Palestinians.
