President Abbas to attend World Urban Forum in Egypt

RAMALLAH, November 2, 2024 (WAFA) – Palestine’s Ambassador to Egypt, Diab al-Louh, announced today that President Mahmoud Abbas will arrive in Egypt on Sunday for an official two-day visit. The visit comes at the invitation of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, who has invited President Abbas to participate in the opening session of the World Urban Forum.

During this visit, the two leaders are expected to hold a bilateral meeting aimed at exchanging views and enhancing cooperation between their countries. Key topics on the agenda will include the ongoing situation in Palestine, as well as regional and global developments.

Ambassador al-Louh emphasized that a primary focus of their discussions will be to explore ways to support Egypt and other partners in their efforts to halt the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people, ensure their protection, and provide humanitarian assistance.

The talks will also address the urgent need for reconstruction in areas devastated by the Israeli onslaught and to mobilize efforts to end the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories, ultimately aiming for the establishment of a sovereign and geographically contiguous Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.

The World Urban Forum, taking place in its twelfth session, will also see the participation of various Palestinian ministerial and technical delegations, underscoring the significance of Palestine's presence in this global forum.
